Meet Scott Leffler – Director of Cost and Purchasing at Paytas Homes

Our latest Employee Spotlight is Scott Leffler, Director of Cost and Purchasing.   Scott is an important part of our team even more so in this unfamiliar time we are experiencing in the home building industry.  He has the endless job of updating cost escalations, pricing, material supply chains, orders and relations with our contractors.

Scott grew up in Tampa and attended University of Tampa where he played baseball and went on to play for the Toronto Blue Jays as a pitcher for 3 seasons.  After sustaining a career ending injury, he then joined the police academy and became a Volusia County Deputy Sherriff.  During his 10 years with the department, the majority of his career there was focused on investigation and SWAT.  After leaving law enforcement, he started his construction career as an Assistant Superintendent and later transitioned  into a Superintendent overseeing various communities throughout Volusia County.  In October 2020, Scott joined the Paytas Homes Team.

Facts about Scott:

    • Favorite part of working for Paytas Homes:  The family atmosphere and the ability to work in an environment where we can game plan and address all facets of the home building process from the owner, Jim Paytas down.
    • What is your favorite memory while working at Paytas Homes:  Sitting in my office on late Friday, at which time I began to smell the exhaust of an old car.  Right about that time, Jim Paytas comes running in yelling, “come look at my dad’s old car!” I entered the back bay to see his 50’s Ford running, smoke everywhere as we both tried not to choke on the fumes.
    • What don’t we know about Scott?  He’s deathly afraid of heights!
    • Shared one of his goals:  Become extremely proficient and effective in my new role.

Outside of work you will find him spending his time with his wonderful wife, 2 sons and daughter, enjoying the outdoors!  When asked what he is most proud of, he replied “my wife as a mother and educator accomplishing her goal of becoming a Principal.”   For the record, he did also state his wife is the better athlete in the family.

Scott is always looking out for the best interests of our homeowners, our company and has been a true asset to Paytas Homes!  We are extremely thankful for all your hard work Scott!
